TyrrellTech is a company with three locations on the east coast, all focused on selling large format printing, cutting, laminating and engraving equipment to a variety of customers, including but not limited to sign and graphics shops, fabrication shops, vehicle wrap installers, packaging and prototype manufacturers, apparel printers and more.

The Flemington, New Jersey office of TyrrellTech is looking for a service technician with a mechanical aptitude and strong interest in taking apart and repairing equipment. We service a variety of printing, laminating and engraving machines and need someone who can help to offer that service and support to machine on-site at various customer locations.

The main purpose of this position would be to provide service and customer support during field visits or dispatches. This technician will go on site and perform repairs on large equipment. The ideal candidate for this job should have a strong mechanical aptitude and the ability to troubleshoot, test, repair and service technical equipment. They will need to follow the published repair manuals as required, the resources and people available by phone or on the computer, but also be able to use independent judgment as required.

The service technician will diagnose errors or technical problems and determine proper solutions, will produce timely and detailed service reports and will need to document processes while also collaborating with the other technical staff in the company to create a central repair knowledge base.

Being someone who will spend a large amount of time in customer’s locations, another aspect of this job is customer service. The service technician will be expected to possess superb customer service skills and an ability to diagnose and solve problems from non-technical descriptions provided by their customers.

This job will require the technician to work within a proven system already established by TyrrellTech. There will be procedures, training, and documentation which all must be done as expected and all documentation must be turned in completely and in a timely manner. The technician should have the ability to understand the importance of time management, standards of operating procedures, owner’s manuals and product/warning labels providing both on-site and telephone support

This is a position that is largely performed outside of the office. The technician will be expected to act professionally in the offices and production environments of the customer’s. While driving for the company, this technician will be required to operate their vehicle in a safe manner. The service technician will need to follow all company’s filed procedures and protocols. The technician will be expected to perform the job safely with respect to others, property and to individual safety.

In general, the ideal individual for this position should possess solid written and verbal communication skills and be able to perform basic computer operations. They must exhibit a high level of safety consciousness and a clear understanding of equipment safety. Being part of a small business that is a growing company, they will also need to perform other duties as assigned.

Field service technicians must be able to manage service calls that require more time than anticipated without becoming frustrated or rushing through a job. They should possess the ability to multi-task and maintain composure in stressful and demanding work environment. They should also have the ability to exercise flexibility and resourcefulness (with assistance from others) in challenging and/or perplexing situations. Proven field service experience with digital printers would be helpful, but TyrrellTech will train if not familiar.

The ideal candidate for this position should have some experience with technical repairs. Strong technical/mechanical skills and experience are required; printer product knowledge is helpful. At times, this technician will need to work outside of normal business hours to accommodate certain repairs and customer needs.

The candidate for this position must have a high school diploma or equivalent, basic computer skills and must hold valid US driving license.
